... And This Is Why We Dance ...

This past weekend the Rutgers University Dance Marathon was a giant success and made an astounding $380,351.10 for the Embrace Kids Foundation.
Hundreds of college students plus some alumni, like myself, stood on their feet for 32 hours to raise money for child with cancer and blood disorders. It took a year to plan ... It took the combined efforts of hundreds of additional students who make up the Central Planning Team, the captains, the committee members, and many more.
And why would a group of young people who could be doing any old thing for the weekend come together and do this, you ask? Especially when it is hard ...

No, seriously. It's hard. It's painful. Your muscles ache. You're probably cranky from the hours of 3 am to 8 am ... You might cry ... You might yell at people. You might get yelled at BY people. You might want to just throw in the towel at some points.

I'll tell you why ... Because come around 10:30-11:00 am on Sunday morning when those kids come in and their families come in - your cranky mood is immediately gone and those last 9 hours go by and you don't really even know it. You know why you're there. You are truly doing it for those kids and those families. Kids like Alpha Chi Omega's RU4Kids child Jimmy.

You're doing it for kids like Emily who were helped by the Embrace Kids Foundation ... (I will try to get the video of Emily to post soon ... It's not working right now ...)
