What's Wrong With The World Today? - Racy Racism ... Or Is It?

GQ magazine recently released its list of the "100 Hottest Women of the 21st Century" ... despite there still being "987 more years in this particular millennium," according to the article.
While the list contained some common hot names such as Beyonce, Shakira, Eva Mendes, Halle Berry, and Megan Fox ... There were some surprises on it such as Seth Meyer's celebrity survey choice of Hillary Clinton, about whom he said, "I think somebody who is getting sexier every year is Hillary Clinton. Every year she seems better at whatever she's doing. By the end of the millennium, she's gonna have it locked down."

However, that was not the real surprise ... Amongst its list, GQ found it appropriate to include the following categories:
     - Hot Chinese Chick: Zhang Ziyi
     - Hot Italian Chick: Monica Belluci
     - Hot Indian Chick: Freida Pinto
     - Hot Pregnant Sri Lankan Chick: M.I.A
I am at a loss to understand why these women were singled for their nationalities and/or ethnicities on this list of so-called hot women, in the first place. Why weren't Beyonce and Halle Berry listed as "Hot Black Chicks" ... and why wasn't Shakira the "Hot Colombian Chick" or Eva Mendez labeled as the "Hot Latina Chick?" ...
OHHHHH, because those some of those might have been considered offensive. I get it. The media gets to sexualize certain women ... But if they think they'll be in hot water for other choices they make, they steer clear of those stupid choices.
For the record, the hyper-sexualization of any race, nationality, or ethnicity is wrong. If GQ wanted to list the 100 hottest women of this (incomplete) millennium, it should have just listed 100 women straight through - not pulled some out based on their "look."

And we read in the gospel of Vogue that we're all supposed to dress and move and be visions of perfection, such a misconception, 'cause the real connection is deeper than the eye can see. What's inside of you? What's inside of me? The hands that made the moon and stars, the mountains and the seas, made you wonderful, beautiful, marvelously. Let the whole world see your true beauty. (True Beauty, Mandisa)

PS. Can you say airbrush?! I mean I know it's winter and everything but ...Beyonce is not that white ... ever. They whitewashed her like woah.

... And Then There Were Five (As There Should Be)

Can we talk about how I never wrote a freak-out post about this? I'm not sure how that happened ... It must have been because of the thesis-ing and graduating and working and the rushing around (which I wrote about in the last post ... see what I mean ... It causes problems!) ... But seeing as how I seem to document all things BSB ... I will freak-out in 3 ... 2 ... 1.
     KEVIN'S BACKKKKKKKKKKK!!!!!!!!!!

And BSB are releasing a new album ... which will basically solve all the world's problems. I have nothing left to ask for ... All my prayers have been answered. Life is good. Everything is in sync. The world is at ease.

On this perfect day - nothing's standing in my way. On this perfect day - when nothing can go wrong. It's the perfect day - tomorrow's gonna come too soon. I could stay forever as I am on this perfect day. (Perfect Day, Hoku)

Big Time Beauty

A few posts ago I wrote about the whole YouTube Kate Upton shenanigans and who would have thought that I would be writing about another Sports Illustrated: Swimsuit model within the same month! ... Not me! Especially because I don't really care too much for the magazine, in general ... But when I stumbled upon this article earlier today I was stunned!
Now I have been following Crystal Renn for years. She's modeled for loads of stores that I have shopped in and I am aware of her consistent up and down weight issues, as well as her battle with anorexia ... AND I worked on a show focused completely around the SI: Swimsuit Edition (heck, I met Kate Upton ... although that photo has never seen the light of day - never pose next to a supermodel ladies ... It never makes you feel good) but I did not even recognize Renn in the photos within the magazine. She has had a complete transformation - to looking generally healthy, not that as a previous "plus-size model" at a size 8 or 10 she didn't look healthy.

I am happy that Renn seems to have finally taken control of her body and seems to be at a happy and healthy place with herself. The fashion and modeling industry can take a toll on women and it does  not seem like an easy world to navigate so I really do commend her for what she seems to have done here.

We go out to a party somewhere, the moment we walk in the door, people stop and everybody stares. She don't know what they're staring for. She don't know she's beautiful - never crossed her mind. She don't know she's beautiful - no, she's not that kind. She don't know she's beautiful though time and time I've told her so. [She Don't Know (She's Beautiful), Sammy Kershaw]

Too Booby-Licious For YouTube

Hey All. It's been awhile ... But it's getting down to the wire for me and my thesis is due in ... a week. AHHHHHHH. So I've been crazy busy!!! Research, research, and research. That's all I've been doing ... But I'm taking a few minutes out of my time to comment on this.

Not the video in general ... But the fact that this past week the video was banned from YouTube for violating its nudity policy. Ummmm ... As far as I can tell, Kate Upton is not naked in this video - damn near close to it, but not naked. The woman is a bikini model what do they expect her to be wearing in most of her videos? She is barely recognizable in clothing.
There are hundreds of videos on YouTube of women in bikinis dancing that have not been banned - so why her? She's too sexy? Too curvy (don't even get me started on how she's being called the new face of modeling because she's "voluptuous"). It's ridiculous.
On Wednesday, YouTube brought the video back with an age restriction ... but apparently that was a mistake too ... because by the end of the day that was gone too. Can we cool it with the double standards here? Yes, the woman has boobs. Yes, they are jiggling around. Yes, she is famous. How does that make her naked - because last time I checked if you are violating a nudity policy ... I'd assume you'd have to be naked.

I don't think your ready for this jelly. I don't think your ready for this jelly. I don't think for this. Is my body too bootylicious for ya, baby? (Bootylicious, Destiny's Child)

He's So Excited ... And Not Much Else.

HOLY HECK ... It's been forever since I've blogged! Sorry for the non-bloggi-ness but thesis-ness is in full-bloomi-ness! It's due in less than SIX weeks. AHHHH. Can you believe it?!
Either way, I thought I needed to post this video for your viewing pleasure, not in jest but in pure loving fun ... because I think Tim Tebow is, well, just so freakin' God Dang adorable and cute.

Yes, I searched for the cutest picture of Tebow I could find.
Yes, I love children.
Yes, Tebow with a child makes him even more adorable.

As you already know (unless you live under a rock ... or have the sports knowledge of said rock), Tim Tebow is now a J . E . T, Jet Jet Jet, and he is super excited ... and he just can't hide it!!!

Now, let's just hope Tebow doesn't get overwhelmed by his new team and his new city and have a Jesse-Spano-like freak-out on the field ... although, not going to lie, it would be kind of entertaining (and I wouldn't complain if Zack Morris showed up on the scene either because he didn't grow up so bad if you know what I'm sayinnn').

I want to love you, feel you, wrap myself around you. I want to squeeze you, please you. I just can't get enough and if you move real slow, I let it go. I'm so excited and I just can't hide it. I'm about to lose control and I think I like it. I'm so excited and I just can't hide it and I know, I know, I know, I know, I know I want you. (I'm So Excited, The Pointer Sisters)

Rhyme Time, Damn He's Fine

Today is Dr. Seuss's birthday and I suggest everyone crawl up with their favorite Seuss adventure (because we all have one!) and just be a kid again!!! Or you can watch this ... and feel awful about growing up.
I believe last year, I wrote how my fave Seussical book is "Oh, The Places You'll Go" ... and it still is. ENJOY!

Also, Justin Bieber turned 18 yesterday ... So I am officially, legally allowed to say that he is super adorable ... and, yes, I'd marry him for his money. Justin, call me.
     Happy Belated Bieber Birthday Day!!!!

Hey, I just met you and this is crazy but here’s my number, so call me (maybe). It’s hard to look right at you, baby, but here’s my number, so call me (maybe). Hey, I just met you and this is crazy but here’s my number, so call me (maybe). And all the other boys try to chase me but here’s my number, so call me (maybe). (Call Me Maybe, Carly Rae Jepsen)

PS. Click the link for the official video! It's hilarious. I can't find it to post here.

Adele: A Role Model Worth Her Weight In Everything (Pun Intended)

By this point, I am sure a lot of you have heard about Karl Lagerfeld and his demeaning comments (and the subsequent apology he issued) to Adele ...
But still, I have one question for Karl Lagerfeld, the man behind the Adele is an amazing singer but she's just "a little too fat" comments ... Have you looked in the mirror lately??!!? Because you are one hella ugly, old-ass dude, who has no business commenting on others looks.

Adele on the other hand is a talented, strong, beautiful woman who represents the majority of women in this country ... And she owns it.
She apparently told People magazine, "Weight has nothing to do with my career. Even when I was signing, most of the industry knew if anyone ever dared say [lose weight] to me, they wouldn't be working with me."
It is refreshing to see a woman in the entertainment industry speak out like that and own her body for what it is ... Because far too often we see women beating themselves up and attempting to fit into the Hollywood ideal of perfection.

Nicole Richie
Victoria "Posh" Beckham
Kiera Knightley

Adele seems to go against the grain and own her body for what it is, and not let others try to put her in a category. I was ecstatic when I saw her on the December 2011 cover of Cosmopolitan magazine because, 1) its nice to see someone on the cover who looks ever so slightly maybe more like me than the usual cover girls, and 2) Cosmopolitan did not use a head shot of her, as magazines will often do when the cover model is anything above a size 4 (OMG! God FORBID!).

I just hope Adele is able to keep up her kick-ass, give-'em-hell attitude when it comes to her image as she becomes increasingly famous, and is in the spotlight more and more, because there are hundreds of thousands of little girls out there who need a role model like her.
I know I could have used one growing up.

You don't own me. Don't try to change me in any way. You don't own me. Don't tie me down 'cause I'd never stay. I don't tell you what to say. I don't tell you what to do. So just let me be myself. That's all I ask of you. I'm young and I love to be young. I'm free and I love to be free - to live my life the way I want, to say and do whatever I please. (You Don't Own Me, Lesley Gore)

This Class ... Best Thing I Never Had.

When I went to Rutgers back in the day (yes, I consider myself old enough to say that even though I only graduated 2 years ago) and I wanted to take a bullshit class, I signed up for Rocks for Jocks or Dinosaurs (yes, that existed and it was the hardest class I took in 4 years - don't laugh) ... Now these spoiled kids can take a class called Politicizing Beyonce
     WTF does that mean?
Apparently Lady B is pushing the boundaries of race, gender, and sex. I can give you a list of people in Hollywood who do that ... who DID that. I want to take a class on MJ. That would be freakin' interesting.
But, I mean, who cares, right? If Rutgers wants to pay this doctoral student to teach a bunch of undergrads about how Beyonce tells us that girls run the world while being single ladies, while never once worrying if she were a boy, then so be it, because she does it all while being loud and proud and hella bootylicious ...

For the record, if I were gonna name this class, I'd call it ... How Beyonce Backs That Thang Up ... And Changes The World. Just a thought for next semester.

Her voice is echoed in my mind. I count the days 'til she is mine. Can't tell my friends 'cuz they will laugh. I love a member of the staff and I fight my way to the front of the class to get the best view of her ass. I drop a pencil on the floor. She bends down and shows me more. That's what I go to school for even though it is a real bore. You can call me crazy. I know that she craves me. That's what I go to school for. (That's What I Go To School For, Busted)

Zac Efron ... Milk Done His Body Good.

All I have to say is ... Hot Damn, Zac Efron. You've come a long way since High School Musical, where you did nothing for me.

Waiting for this movie to come out this Spring is what will get me through these next few months full of thesis crap, internship busy-ness, and working two jobs.

Well, the flag of piracy flew from my mast, my sails were set wing to wing. I had a jukebox graduate for first mate. She couldn't sail but she sure could sing. I pushed B-52 and bombed them with the blues with my gear set stubborn on standing. Well, I broke all the rules, strafed my old high school, and never once gave thought to landing. And I hid in the clouded wrath of the crowd, but when they said, "Come down," I threw up. Ooh ... growin' up. (Growin' Up, Bruce Springsteen)

The One Thing You Can Rely On When New Year's Day Rolls Around ...

The New Year's Eve Induced Hangover!

Considering we can't rely on the Mayans to get things right ... or our resolutions to get fulfilled this year (because let's face it ... they probably won't) ... there aren't a lot of things that you can count on when the New Year rolls around, but I assume there is one thing that will never let people down ... and that is the New Year's Eve Induced Hangover.
Last night a couple of friends and I got together to ring in the New Year. We had a hearty evening of playing Pictionary-Around-The-World, Hungry Hungry Hippos (I swear that game is rigged for the green Hippo to win ... Just saying!), and Apples to Apples (Helen Keller always wins) ... Yes, I know, we go hard.
We also watched Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve special (OMG ... Justin Bieber covered the Beatles with Carlos Santana! So my world was considerably rocked! Anyone else's!?!?!? HUH HUH?!!) and I noticed something watching it ... People were freakin' sloshed.
As far as I knew, drinking on the streets of Manhattan was illegal ... but I definitely saw the camera scan over loads of people loading themselves up on bottles of champagne and other fun drinkity drinks that they could, presumably, sneak in and hide from the hundreds of NYPD cops lining the streets ... and hanging out with Lady Gaga.

Photo c/o www.billboard.com

On a less humorous note, as I drove home ... it was kind of sad to see the number of people pulled over by cops ...  and the number of cars that were in accidents. I'm taking an educated guess and saying a good number of those were alcohol-induced issues. Totally not smart on the part of the driver ... As we all know, you are not only risking your own life ... but MY life ... and the lives of everyone else on the road who are just trying to drive home and live to see next year (if the Mayans aren't right about the whole world-ending-at-the-end-of-2012 thing).
So, anyway, for those of you that I saw on TV swaying back and forth ... not to the rockin' music of Gaga and Bieber but just because you couldn't stand straight ... and for those that couldn't drive within the designated lanes on the highway early this morning ... Although nothing is set is stone for the rest of 2012, I'm almost positive about one thing ... Grab yourself a bottle of water, three Advil, and some carbs ... because this morning won't be your best.

Happy New Year!

Bottles poppin' 'til we can't stand. We keep it rocking 'til 6 am. New York to London over to Japan. Turn it up, turn it up, mash it up. We gonna party like, party like, like it's the end of the world. We gonna party like, like it's 2012. You know that it doesn't matter as long as we got each other. Turn it up, turn it up, mash it up. It ain't the end of the world. [2012 (It Ain't The End) - Jay Sean ft. Nicki Minaj]

It's Not His Baby, Baby, Baby. Ohhhh.

Y'all knew it was coming ... My rant on this Biebs story. Y'all just didn't know when! Sorry, but grad school has been OWNING my life. But, here it is. The "IT AIN'T HIS" rant!
Now I'm sure at this point, you all have heard about this trifling bitch Mariah Yeater who is claiming that Justin Bieber fathered her 3-month-old son, after some 30-second bathroom tryst. This comes after she claimed the child was fathered by her ex-boyfriend (who, in case you are wondering, she beat and then ended up being arrested for battery when he denied being the father).
Oh yeahhhhh, Justin Bieber was her SECOND CHOICE BABY DADDY!

Now, here's my thing. If you are going to make up some crazy-ass story to get yourself some 15 minutes of fame and some dolla dolla bills in your pocket then at least pick a better celebrity ... Because I mean, come on, we all know the Biebs is all about being virgin unless you are definitely ready and you are absolutely with someone you loveeeeee (ermmmm ... Selena Gomez, anyone!?). AND, on top of that, this woman's 3-month-old child would have been conceived when the Biebs was 16 years old, and she was 19!!!! WHAT?! She's willing to be convicted of statutory rape for this!?
GIRLLLLL, you all kinds of crazy.

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Dept./AP

I am interested to see where this story ends up going because I know right now Justin Bieber is simply denying that he knows her and that the baby is his ... (OBVI, because it's TRUE). But this woman seems like a total loony basket, so I am just wondering if the Biebs will ever succumb and take the paternity test. Or if this crazy will end up trailing him on the road because, I mean, its not too hard to track down a celeb. What do you really need to do? Google them?
Actually, that's pretty scary. I don't want to give any more crazines any ideas.

Don't need that TMZ all in our privacy. Use them lips for kissin' girl if you wanna ride with me, and if you wanna tell somebody then we can call the whole thing off, no problem. You can go your way and I'll go mine but I'd rather spend a little time with you, yeah ... I don't wanna see you tweet about J.B 'cause the only people that know is you and me ... So, tell me are you gonna kiss, kiss and tell? (Kiss and Tell, Justin Bieber)

... Imagination, Barbie's Wedding Creation ...

I don't know who has seen these wedding pictures but all I know is that Barbie is one lucky lady. She might have dumped Ken for a short while (let's face it, he was probably being a jerk ... Can you imagine all the ToyLand ladies who would want to get with him!? He does have some rock hard abs!) but she got back with him and they are living the dream ... I mean the couple must be making bank. She is a doctor, an astronaut, a veterinarian, a flight attendant, a teacher, a paratrooper ... just to name a few of her hats! (I'm not sure what Ken does ... I actually think he's the one in the couple who stands around and looks pretty, but that's cool because Mama's bringin' home the dough.)

Bottom line, Barbie and Ken are loaded ... and they could afford the wedding of a lifetime. And that's just what they got. And I am super jealous of them. And I never thought I'd sound crazy enough to say I was jealous of a doll/fictional couple. I've never even been jealous of those insane billion dollar shindigs on the Wedding channel.
Photographer Beatrice deGuigne shot the wedding and I was amazed at how she captured the details so intimately. How many times did you marry off Ken and Barbie as a child!? I know I must have done it a million times over ... Even if I didn't have a Ken doll. I filled him in with random G.I. Joe's and Little Green Army Men ... But no wedding was ever as romantic as this (and in the back of my mind Barbie was me ... and G.I. Joe was the future Mr. Me ... and I still didn't plan anything this good!).
Here are my fave shots of the wedding. To view the whole wedding ... go here.

"Here, bro. Let me help you with that."

"You guys are my best friends. I promise when Barbie says so, you can ride
in the pink Corvette ... when you're not working at Abercrombie."

"I wonder what Ken is doing right now?
I bet he's thinking about me."

"Oh Barbie! You make the most beautiful bride I've ever seen!
Some brides look so fake on their wedding day but not you!"

"Wanna go for a ride, Barbie?"

"Oh, I love you, Ken! ... I would go for that ride ...
but we need to get married right about now."

"WE DO!"

... Tonight's gonna be a good night ...

Picture Perfect Wedding!

I'm a Barbie Girl ... This is my Barbie World.

Isn't that an awesome wedding?! My favorite part is the first dance. The lighting is so pretty. I can just imagine the music in the background ... But lucky for you, you won't have to because I chose a wedding song just for Ken and Barbie! (It's been one of my favorites since I was about one or two years old ... It is soooo getting played at my wedding ... No questions asked.)

So this is love, so this is what makes life divine. I'm all aglow, and now I know, the key to all Heaven is mine. My heart has wings and I can fly. I'll touch every star in the star. So this is the miracle that I've been dreaming of - so this is love. (So This Is Love, James Ingram)

Side Note: My favorite is still the original.

I (Still) Love Lucy ... And The Top 5 Reasons You Should Too.

If everyone's favorite ginger, Lucille Ball, was alive today - it would be her 100th birthday ... and I am sure she would be up on a stage somewhere making people laugh because that is what she did best.

Before "I Love Lucy," Ball starred in several B-movies as well in some stage shows. She also met and eloped with Desi Arnaz, her "I Love Lucy" husband, before the show was even conceived.
After Ball was cast as a cooky wife on a radio show and its popularity seemed to grow, the "I Love Lucy" idea was brought about ... Lucy - always her own woman - insisted she wanted to work with her husband. Although CBS did not like the idea of a mixed couple on TV, because they did not think the American couple would take it well, they agreed ... and after a couple of bumps in the road "I Love Lucy" made it into CBS's line-up and the public loved it! And still does. In the 60 years since it has aired, "I Love Lucy" has practically never been off the air, and it has been translated into dozens of languages and seen all over the world.

Top Five Reasons You Should Love Lucy

5) She paved the way for women in the television business. She was the first woman to head a production company - Desilu - which she started with her husband. After they were divorced, she did what any smart woman would do ... she bought his share of the studio and ran it successfully until it was bought in 1967 and renamed Paramount Television.

4) Even if her first marriage didn't work out, you have to admit - Lucy snagged herself a (younger) hottie. She met Desi Arnaz in 1940 and eloped the same year. He was six years younger than her. Although a divorce was originally filed for in 1944, before "I Love Lucy" even aired, the couple did not actually divorce until 1960 - and they remained close friends even after the divorce.

3) She was one hot mama. In true Lucy fashion, when she was pregnant with her second child she insisted that her pregnancy be written into the "I Love Lucy" story line because the show was having top ratings at the time and most episodes were filmed live. CBS refused at first, saying that a pregnant woman could not be on television and the word "pregnant" could not be used either. But she wasn't going to have it ... so she continued to fight ... and she won, so her pregnancy was put into the story line ... but the word "expecting" was used throughout the show, as opposed to "pregnant."

2) Despite her antics, you can identify with her character. Although Lucy was always up to some crazy scheme in order to end up in a movie, or get a job, or cross a border ... her perseverance and work ethic is something that I think (or hope) everyone can relate to. If we all went that extra mile, or put that extra thought, into our everyday lives ... I think the world would be a better place (or a funnier one, at best).

1) She was just plain funny. Lucy's humor still resonates today. I dare anyone to watch an episode of "I Love Lucy" or "The Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour" or anything she was in ... and not laugh. Whether she was shoving chocolate down her shirt or pressing grapes with her feet or herding baby chickens back into their boxes, she was the Queen of Comedy in the '50s and '60s ... and she still is today. She knew how to be funny across cultures, ages, and time ... and that's what made her so successful.

Here are some classic Lucy moments for you to enjoy ... As well as some of my favorites.

Lucy's in London. Bridges are falling down. People are runnin' 'round and the town's upside down. With her mini-skirt on, she got in with the mod and she really became top-gear. With her motorcycle and her sunglasses and her long bright red hair ... It was Lucy runnin' wild. (Lucy In London)

Mo Rocca ... Is Out.

Not a surprise to me ... But apparently it is to a lot of other people.

Good for him. He's 42 and finally telling the world ... and himself.

He came out on The Six Pack ... and the story made Perez Hilton earlier today.

The worst thing about this decision is that, according to him, he is getting rid of the glasses because he says he's been "hiding behind" them.

Long live the glasses, Mo. We will miss them.

You can count on me to always be beside you everyday to tell you, "It's okay, you were just born that way and as they say, it's in your DNA, you're gay!" (If You Were Gay, Avenue Q Soundtrack)
